Default Key Stuck in Ignition - On Position

Hi all,

My ignition key has become stuck in the 'on position', won't allow me to turn it off. The only way to stop the engine was to remove the fuse for the fuel pump to stop the engine and then to disconnect the battery to stop it draining as the electrics would still be on. The key still stubbornly refuses to turn to off. It will allow me to turn it to the position to start the engine and then back to on again, but not off! The vehicle is in park and seems to recognise this as when I move it through Reverse and Drive, the car responds and then stops when in park.

Any ideas please?

Thanks, Adam.

Did you try spraying a little lubricant into it?

If lubricating it didn't resolve the key sticking I would recommend removing it and taking it to a locksmith that is familiar with Tibby keys. I have attached the removal instructions to assist.
If it can't be repaired you will have to replace it and that will require programming it to the PATS system.
