Leaper Removal

???? Are you talking about removing the factory installed leaper and covering the hole with a bonnet badge? That's easy. The leaper undoes with a big nylon nut on the underside of the hood. If you are talking removing it and filling the hole. That's more complicated and requires a UK spec hood or body work and paint.

If you want to cover the holes and not paint, this is what I did:

If you want absolutely nothing there, then best case is European hood, next best best is fill and full hood repaint.

Sounds like I gotta order a black center wheel cap. I guess trim/dremmel the opposite side of the cap so its flat and then use 3M tape to stick it on?
The bolts under the hood come off easy?

I gotta protest.
The Leaper is what makes the Jag, methinks.
What Coventry hath established, let no man pull asunder.
It's a sacrilage to remove it, I'm telling ya!!!
Please reconsider !!!
I'm not saying the smooth hood isn't classy, and Exexpats car is VERY sharp with the hood emblem - removing the Leaper just seems more like a self-inflicted circumcision done in a religious fervor than a "good idea".
BUT - if you must remove it in the name of "style", maybe put it up on the roof, instead of one of those shark fin thingies!

I think it is better without it and less pretensious. It's gotten to the point in the rest of the world that the Europeans, Australians and Kiwis think us yanks have added the leapers ourselves - because their cars don't have them from the factory.

Now, lighted eyes on the Leaper, THAT would be classy!
Beautiful British Racing Green Eyes.
(I wonder if LED's come in British Racing Green?)
Maybe even hook them up to blink with the turn signals.
Something Naven Johnson (Steve Martin in "The Jerk") would approve of.

Why on earth would you want to remove the Leaper?? To me that is what people look for to assure it really is a Jag.
When I hear guys "debadging" Porche's or Lexus' or Ferrari's it drives me nuts... The badge is the trademark of the quality, and the Leaper (not being biased here) is pretty much the hottest hood piece on ANY car - except maybe a Rolls Royce.
Spend the money on recentering (if that is a word) your Leaper and let it lead you down the road...

I think of it like this.
There are people who study and earn their PhD then remain humble to some degree by not insisting people call them "Doctor". There are others who insist on the differentiation and being addressed with their "Doctor" title - because they have earned that right.
I fall into the former category (even though I only have a double-bachelor degree and limited post-graduate study), hence I prefer debadging and no titles. Others will want to show their title or pedigree and in this case keep the badging.
