Leather
So, does anyone know anything about leather?
On a scale of 1-10 how good is the leather used for the seats in our X-Types? Is there a recognized categorization of leather and if so how does ours' compare?
The leather on my seat is hard and thick, is that recognized as a good thing?
The leather in my car is much stiffer than the leather in my wife's Buick and also my leather sofa at home. Does that signify a superior grade?
Just curious s'all...

pab, normally a softer leather is thought of as being better. But then, you need to know the application. For a seat, softer is better. But, if you want to soften up the leather in your car, get a bottle of Connelly Leather Treatment. You will be surprised as to what that will do for your seats. It will soften them up and restore some of the lost hydration in the leather.

1 bad - 10 best, I would rate the leather in the X-Type a 4. It's held up pretty well, except for the vinyl bolsters (unless that's real leather, in which case that would be a shame). So it does well for durability. In terms of feel; it feels cheap and there's no grain to it, it just doesn't feel good. I don't know how else to explain it.
But keep it conditioned and it is comfortable to sit on. Except in the summer, and in the winter with the seat heaters on. I hate that it's not perforated. It doesn't breathe AT ALL.
