Default LED's in the tail lights

i have searched and searched and i can't find anyone who has replaced the rear lights (brake, tail, fog) in the X-Type with LED's and have given any details. I saw someone said they have swapped them out but they did not give any details of what bulbs they used, how they looked, and any suggestions they might have. The two things I am concered with are the rear fog lights and the turn lights. any help would be great. I have already swapped out the reverse lights and they look great! Now I want to do all the lights.

Hey bud, you know I did my xk with LEDs, and i have lots of bulbs left over...if you want to try them, I am pretty sure I can ship them out for like $5 for you to try out. red, amber, 1157s, 1156s. Only ones that may be missing is the pair used in the tailight. Kept those babies.

Just saw that over half of my LED project thread has disappeared mysteriously, sorry, I was going to link you to some of the better bulb pics. Do you remember reading it awhile back?

Vegas, you're in luck...i also have good 3157 amber bulbs...sorry, no 7507s though for you to try. I think your rear fog will be a 1156, not a 1157...surely you don't need dual filament bulbs for that.

I've done a full LED swap on all the exterior lights on the X. The list you have above is correct, the 7507 bulb was the most difficult to find and ended up buying one on eBay. You could look at my cardomain pics to see how the look at night. They are not as bright as OEM.

I'll take more up close pics when I get the chance.

well i have messed with a few types of LED's and I have found that some look better then others. I was just hoping that someone has done this already and would know what are the proper bulbs to use.

well i bought these for the rear turn signals and put them in today and they look great! I have noticed one thing I hope someone will be able to help with. The bulb on the outside of the car flash just fine. But, the indicator in the car flashes real fast... is something wrong?

Here is the link for the bulbs.

nothing is wrong, just the computer thinks the bulbs are burned out since the LEDs have lower resistance than the regular filament bulbs. you need to install one of these on each wire to the harness that works on the bulb. Check your wiring diagram to make sure you got the right color, or use a voltmeter and turn on the signal...look for fluctuations of 0 - 11/12V... that's your pin.

Mount that thing next to metal, not right up against plastic, as it'll melt it. trust me, i know.

i used double sided, thick tape. Works just fine.

Good question...I don't honestly know, I'd say it'd need more as your lowering the current draw even more and the resistors would fix this...So I say yes because your using less power even though you have the resistor in the back to fix the back one's but what about the front...know what I mean???

Unfortunately, yes, you will need to install one on the front leads as well. Lots of better locations to install up front though.
