Default Lets do a "sticky" common problems thread

I know we have a sticky thread with great information.

However, I'd love to see a well done "sticky thread" with links to successful repairs of common X-Type problems.

So far, I've had:

1) 3 throttle bodies fail, due to throttle position sensor issues. I've recently repaired my TPS successfully and saved a bunch of money.
2) Both front and rear lower control arms had bushing failures.
3) Upper, rear control arms need to replaced to "fix" the excessive negative camber
4) Repaired the "transfer case" by replacing both "prop shaft" bearings.
5) Windshield squirter nozzles failed.
6) Intake manifold "O" rings failed.
7) Thermostat housing cracked and leaked.
8) Oxygen sensor failed
9) Coil failure, leading to Catalytic Converter failure
10) Clutch pedal bushing failure
11) Key Fob issues
12) Headlight internal plastic deterioration, leading to worthless headlights. Repaired them myself by disassembly and fabrication of new internal adjusters.
13) Headliner failure
14) Battery cable to terminal crimp overheating.

There is more, just don't remember it right now.

The original OEM lug nuts were absolute garbage.

They incorporate a plastic cover over the actual lug nut. The problem is that over time, moisture builds up between the metal lug nut and the plastic cover.

Ergo, when you have a flat tire, you cannot get the lug nuts off. They just spin, and spin, and spin and.......

Replace every single lug nut on your X-Type immediately!

You can find a replacement set on Ebay for under $20. You'll have to get a new lug wrench to fit the new size (but keep the old one for the jack!).

Trust me, you'll thank me for this information on a cold, stormy night when you are out of cell phone range.
