Default Locking brakes! DSC and Abs lights on

Need help badly. I have a 2003 Jaguar X Type 2.5 that keeps having brake problems. The brake pedal will be very hard and when you try to drive, it's like someone is pressing down on the brake. The car still will go, but struggles greatly. If you let it sit for a good half hour, it will stop doing this and drive and brake just fine. It eventually starts doing it again, though. There is also a thudding noise that occurs from underneath the car by where the brake is when what ever is happening disengages. You can also hear something coming on when the problem starts. The abs light will be on as well as dsc system fault. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

sounds like sticking brakes could be
1=brake booster
2=bad caliper
brake booster test

Sounds like you have sticky calipers. Best bet is to get it to a garage and let them look at it. If the calipers are sticking it will ruin your rotors.

What condition are the pads in? Worn pads can cause this too. If not I would focus on the brake booster.

I also have a 2003 X-Type my back brakes had locked up and I ended up installing new calipers and rotors. So I said to heck with it and did the front too.

We just recently bought the car and the person we bought it from had just put new pads, rotors and calipers on it.
Today when the dsc system fault popped up, we unplugged the switch going to the master cylinder. We started it back up and the code was still there. Shut it off, plugged it back in and code was gone and brakes were good on start up.
We also noticed the master cylinder cap is all broken and thought maybe that could cause a problem?

Thanks for all the help!

Those caps are notorious for breaking. Now it sounds like you have air in the system. Bleed the brakes and see if that corrects the problem.
