Default Looking for some good brake pads

Hey guys,
I am looking for the best if not pretty good brake pads.
I really dont want the screeching noise when i press the brakes, so what good pads could i get? Ive heard that EBC are good but is it the best for the price?

Thanks in advance

All of our Jaguar's use the Akebono EURO Ceramic Disc Brake Pad range. Price is good, performance good and dust is low.

I have not used EBC's on a Jaguar so will leave that comment to someone who does.

Ive used many kinds of pads on many vehicles over the last 24 years but I will never use anything other than EBC Redstuff ever again....fantastic and great value especially if youre in the UK with the extra discount code which also gives free UK shipping.Braking is awesome hot or cold, what dust? only dirt I see on wheels is road grime, and the best bit knowing Im going to stop when I want to stop.Had them all round on my X Type 3.0 and currently on rears on my XJ.Once he fronts wear Redstuff will be going on there too.

From the EBC site http://www.ebcbrakes.com/automotive/...00_index.shtml

"Yellowstuff is NOT rated as low dust and creates similar dust to OEM pads, if low dust is what you seek, Redstuff should be your choice for fast street use."

While were talking brakes, I have around 100k and my rotors are looking a little long in the tooth. Anybody have drilled slotted. These seem like a good deal. Just curious as I'm quite tired of cleaning my wheels every couple of days so ceramics look like the way to go.

I'm also planning on changing the fluid. Mine is original from 05 or looks and feels original. I've always used Valvoline Synth Dot 4 in every car I've owned. It has a very high boil point for a non racing priced fluid. Any suggestions.

Drilled discs have been a big talking point on the uk forum.
Advice was to steer clear as risk of cracking and then failure.
Go dimpled intead as with EBC which arent drilled right through for safety
Re the brake fluid use what Jaguar specifies ITT Super Dot 4

I'm not too concerned with breaking a rotor. Plenty of track days and autox I've never had even a warped rotor (and Subaru SVXs are know to kill 'em quick). I'm just looking for some acceptable braking. Right now I think it'd be close in a 70-0 race between my Jag and my 71 Honda CB175 with mechanical drums front and rear. Noise I can deal with, remember I have a TVR that is very much a daily driver. I just don't want to have to clean those blasted wheels every couple of days.

hmm about the redstuff vs yellowstuff, is the braking power much different or only marginal?

Never used Yellowstuff so dont know but cant see them being noticeably any better than Redstuff.Redstuff stop on a dime hot or cold and thats what its all about, being able to drive and know you can stop when you want to, sorry my mistake thats not what its all about as there is the lack of brake dust too (did somebody mention that?).So thats the 2 things its all about. And the 3rd thing its all about, yes nearly forgot, they claim to last up to 6x longer than std brake pads (I would guess using like for liek discs).

I noticed weigh-in from the EBC users is high and I am the only Akebono user to post. With this kind of support for EBC I am suspecting that I am missing out on a better product.

Has anyone one used both EBC and Akebono and can give some comparisson feedback?

Benebob; I used those rotors on our 2004 X-Type last year. We are happy with them however, it was more for the "bling" factor than performance so no idea how they react under heavy use.

yeah i have had my eye on those ebay rotors for long time but i am a safety guy and i fear that i might get an inferior quality brake rotor and one might crack under heavy braking. but on the other hand i have heard that for everyday normal use they are fine.
