Guess I will have to have it towed to the dealer but posting this to see what I might be looking at. 2005, 45000 miles. Been running fine, serviced recently at the dealer. Went to start it and I can hear a loud clicking coming from the engine bay, maybe starter? All lights flash (head lights, dash lights, security and gear selector lights) radio works, but that's it. I can put the key in position II and move it out of park to neutral but same thing. The security light is not blinking and goes off when key is removed. No fault codes show up. Everything electrical seems to work fine and battery is a newer OEM, which was checked a few months ago when it was in for an oil change. Any ideas? Starter maybe? I thought that but not sure why the lights are flashing like that if it is just the starter.

Just because the battery is newer and has been checked, does not mean it is good. Load test and recheck.

 

Understood but if the battery was bad why does everything else work normally? All lights function as normal, bright and strong. radio and locks work. Windows work. It shows no sign of low voltage. Can it be strong enough to do all of that but too weak to turn over?

 

Oh, and I do not have a way to load test it.

 

OK Jagfixer, I guess you had it pegged. I spoke to my service adviser and he said the same thing. He told me to try to jump it and if it worked then it was just the battery. So I did and it worked so I am on the way to pick up a new battery. Of course I guess I should have tried that first. Lesson learned. Thanks
