Hello everybody,

My 2006 X-Type 2.0D surprised me this morning with this (footage):
It starts about one second after I turn on the engine, and it stops whenever I press the gas pedal. The source of the noise is on your left when you're standing in front of the engine. I'm planning to visit my mechanic, but I want to do the research since the sound seems very characteristic, so maybe some of you experienced this.

I'd be very grateful for any word of advice.

Almost sounds like a valve tappet noise. This is when an automotive stethoscope would really come in handy to try to narrow down exactly where it is but it seems like it’s coming from the valve cover.
