Loud weird noise when driving

I am curious if you have any insight as to why your transmissions only lasted for about 50K. I know the 02's had some initial issues, but I thought the 05 would be better. Is it just the cheap Jatco transmission, lack of maintenance (should we be changing the fluid despite what Jaguar says) or is it certain types of driving habits? I see lots of x-types with well over 100K and the original transmissions, but hear of others that have transmissions fail way earlier.

my car is noisy at 50-55
mph it's like a moaning noise does any one know what it is it's a 2.2 deisel estate?
