Default 2001 jaguar Vanden plas

Owner of a 2001 jaguar with just over 200k miles on it. I drive it to work everyday 40 miles one way. Great shape inside out. Engine over heated and blow a head gasket, (heater hose leaked and caused low coolant while I was in heavy traffic, I couldn't get over fast enough before the engine over heated (8/19/2013). I just had the engine replace @ 199872 miles (5/4/2014). Also the computer had to be replaced, because the cooling fans didn't work after the engine was replaced. Great well worth the engine replacement. Now I am aiming for 5000k miles or more. .

Smile Easy Does It

I just stepped into my very first Jaguar at 150,000 thousand miles! 2001 3.0 S-Type British Racing Green. I'm brave. The car was in really great condition cosmetically, and the things that were wrong with it were the kind of things that you would expect with any car with that much seniority. I drove a fifty-five Chevy Bel Air for 14 years and drove it every day; until some chuckle-head killed it. That said, when I saw the Jag - The interior and exterior called to me, and I went for it.

Since then it has been perfect. She starts every time. Rides smooth as a breeze. No weird sounds, smells or vibes. Just dreamy.

That said I have been taking her to the dealer every Saturday to get things replaced - they mad a list of all of the things I could do if I wanted to (and I do). Some of these things are quite expensive - but again they are things that any car that age would need; and I must say that even though the car is in pain - she doesn't show it...stiff upper lip so far.

I immediately got her new tires, and oil and filter change, new wiper blades, air filter, and a new radiator and thermostat just for good measure. This weekend she is getting new shocks all around. Then I am taking a few months off but when I get back to her I intend to overhaul the entire suspension. Not that she gives me grief there - but she does need the bushings, ball joints and such replaced.

She does eat 3/4 of a quart of oil per month I have noticed. That said there are no bad leaks....the mechanic says I need to replace the cover gaskets. Still I feel that these are just the TLC this car needs to keep her on the road. The previous owner loved her but could not pay for these things as he had kids and a house payment. I am single so I can actually take on this project and my hope is that she will in kind take care of me as well. If I need to travel very far distances I will rent a car just to be sensible.

I know this is not really the most practical thing - but love never is. I hope I can make this into a real happy story as time goes on. I have put 3 thousand on her in the last four months and she has been there for me so.... next stop 154,000!

Keep you posted.

Regards,

Joey Jaguar

Default 55K Water in the Boot . . 08 Estate

Bought an 08 sport estate with 54 on the clock, full jag history. . recipes for tyres last owner. . . I really feel sorry for the guy that sold it because he wasn't mechanically minded. . .and maybe he isn't . . . .he said he was being made redundant etc etc . . .which is how it's going at the moment. . . . . he said he put two tyres on the front when he bought it but the back will need doing in a month or two. . .(his tyre bill was £150 for the front so I think he intended keeping) . . . HOLY FU#K the way these tyres are worn it should be driving "Crab" its ripped them off on the inside. . . . . .if I keep driving It'll be through to the wires in no time . . soooooo bad . . . . . he paid £6k for it 11months ago (I've got the receipt) and sold me it for £4k . . what really pisses me off is the old MOT's . . . .there are "Advisories" . . stating . . . .rear tyres wearing on inside . . WHY DIDN'T THE MOT GUY SAY . .. she needs tracking up . . . .and actually it needed it 2 years ago. . .(I've got MOT'S advising inner tyre wear for 2 previous years) . . The MOT should say . .It's strongly advisable to get your tracking checked as there's only so many rubber trees left and your abusing them. . . . . . . . and if he's genuine in his redunancy and total knobisum regarding tracking . .. and wife choice. . (I'll just leave that there) I wish him the all the best for the future . . and thank you for a beautiful car.

The X-Type is just over 170K miles and the XK8 is around 185K miles.

The F-Type rolled over 50K yesterday.
