Default Low oil pressure

Hi I bought a saloon x type last week on 2006 to sell on and was so impressed I bought my wife an estate on a 2004 plate and this is where the trouble starts,
The car at tick over had a rattle top end nearest the cam chain and the oil light comes on faintly and strongly, i added a flush kit today and this turned the light off and stopped the rattle so I replaced oil and filter, guess what light on and rattle back so next I fitted a new oil pump it's made no difference other than the oil light is glowing stronger now, other than chucking 3 or 4 engine flushes through it tomorrow is there any obvious things? It has full main dealer history and was serviced 2000 miles ago I wondered whether the dealer could have done anything? Thanks in advance for any help given

Almost sounds to me that someone started the engine with no oil in the block, realized what they had done, turned the engine off and then added the oil in at that point. BUt, I am taking a big guess here. Not saying it was done intentionally, but mistakes do happen. Hence why I put the new oil on top of the motor so if I try to close the hood so I can start the car, the oil will prevent the hood from closing and provide a reminder to me to not start the car. Kinda like when the oil has been added to the engine, the empty containers sit next to the drivers door. That way, I have to move them before starting to remind myself that I have added the oil.

You'll have low oil pressure if the main bearings are shot, maybe have a mechanic drop the pan and check the clearances.

Ha, ha, ha

See the other thread about the transfer case being in the way of one of the oil pan bolts... =|-\

Sorry don't think anyone is understanding my problem it's not bottom end it's low pressure and a rattle at tickover from the rockers nearer the cam chain, I have phoned jag they have no idea so now I'm thinking is an oilway on the left side that is cooled too fast by water causing the oil to crystal over time so I'm going to throw a few cans of flush in remove the rockers at have a prod around in the oil ways, the car has full jag history and not a mark on the body so Its a good sign the car should be okay. Unless anyone knows where else there could be a blockage?
