low RPM at start

Talking low RPM at start

hi
i got the jaguar x-tyoe 2.5 2002 automatic transmission.
when i start the engine i have very low rpm the engine almost turn off !
what could the problem be? wrecked sensor that supposed to raise the rpm when the engine is cold ? or fuses?
plz help the car got no brakes with low rpm !!

Adam, first off, welcome to the forums. I think you will find a lot of information here.

As for your problem, I would venture to guess you have some build up inside of the throttlebody and that is causing the airflow to be restricted, leading to the low RPM condition. Stop by a local auto parts store and find some stuff called "throttlebody cleaner". Carburetor cleaner IS NOT!!!!! the same stuff. Then you will need to remove the black plastic off the front of the throttlebody and then spray the throttlebody cleaner into the opening. You can use your finger to manually open the flapper. Make sure to spray the edge of the flapper to get all the gunk off of that too. If it looks brown, spray this stuff on it to remove it. Re-install the intake and start the car. You may find that the car will be hard to start at this point depending on how much of the throttlebody cleaner you used. Essentially the car is flooded. Crank it a little more and it will fire up. See how the car runs then. If that doesn't fix it, let us know and we will take you through the next steps.
