Default Lower Radiator Hose Disconnect

I'm sorry this has GOT to be something that has been asked before, but I couldn't find it with search and I tried several terms with no luck.

I am trying to detach the lower radiator hose from the radiator. It seems to be held on by a wire clip. I assume the attachment would be to lube it with some coolant, and just slide it on until it clicks. But I can't figure out how to get it off to begin with.

Any hints, anyone? What is the method to pull or dislodge or move the retainer out of the way so I can get the hose off?

The car is X-type, 2002, 2.5 engine.

Thanks!

I got my lower hose removed in the course of changing out my radiator. (the original radiator split a tank) Now I am having difficulty getting the new lower hose to seat and lock. Help???

Do you still have the spring clip in the plastic hose end? The spring is what locks it onto the radiator.

My new radiator came with a new o-ring for the lower hose end. You should use the new one if you have it.
