Question Main beams / fog lamps out

Hi,
I have just noticed my main beams and fog lamps are not functioning on my 2006 x-type Diesel Sport. I've done a little research and it seems like it might be a relay that links the two (R15?). Can anyone confirm that replacing the relay is a good place to start? I assume it's a simple case of identifying the relay (in the fuse box under the bonnet) and unplugging it and pluging in the new one?
Cheers for any help offered.
Frank

My copy of JTIS only goes up to 2004 model year, but it does show the main beams and fog lights are powered from the same relay. Replacing that relay would be a good first step, as you suggest. If your dip beams are working properly, you can swap the main beam/fog light relay with the dip beam relay to see if the problem moves to the dip beams.

Also, recognize that the fog lights will turn off automatically when the main beams are turned on.

Frank, that would be a good place to start as that is the most likely component that would result in that problem. The only other thing would be possibly that you have 3 bad fuses (1 for the fogs, and then the fuse for each of the high beams).
