Default Manual Drivers!!!!!!!!

Well i was going through the maxima manual and I saw it. It said Do not keep your clutch engaged while idling or at a stoplight. Look through the jaguar manual too it might say it in that too. It says keeping the clutch engaged can do damage. Well I just bought the 2001 Maxima SE 5 speed 45k and leather, sunroof, bose premium sound upgraded rims, 1 owner, clean carfax, no dents or scratches and love driving the stick man. How much do you think I paid for the car. Look it up on kbb.com Its loaded. I love the color on the car.

Heres a picture

The only time you cause excessive wear on the clutch is when you slip it. Slip = heat, which is what causes clutches to fail. The most damage you'll do by holding in the clutch is damage the throw out bearing. And even that should last a while because you don't always have to replace the throw out bearing when you get a clutch job.

You'll have bigger things to worry about when wearing and tearing on a clutch. If you don't rev match, slip it often, ride it on hills, you'll be buying a clutch in a hurry. Otherwise, it should last 90,000+ miles

Car looks good though. Can't really go wrong with a Maxima. One of a select few front drivers I'd buy.

Yea it shouldn't be wearing. But just throw it in Neutral at lights. That's the easiest thing...

Man your picking that over the jag? J/K

That looks nice and you paid less. But the jag would have my heart! You got a good deal on the jag too didn't you?

BTW do what you will about the clutch its your car so do what you want! We won't be the one's replacing the clutch that is you! Plus a good driver should get 400,000 miles out of the clutch right?

I had 240,000 miles on my 1984 Porsche 944 with the original clutch (even had the OEM rubber hub SACHS disc which is now superceded by a spring diaphragm).

I ususally throw the car in neutral when after 4 seconds and I still have no green light/arrow or stuck in traffic. Stop and go traffic jams can eat up clutches pretty quick, I try and just let the car idle along in 1st gear if I can for as long as I can.

Definitely Chas, I had 4 Mondeos that all went back with around 150 - 160k on them after 3 years all with the original clutches.
If you ride the clutch when in gear, leave it in gear in traffic jams and stop start traffic and at lights all the time, then expect to be replacing them at 40k - 50k or thereabouts[&:]
Its not rocket science! I guess wer'e more informed or just better with manuals as that makes up like 90% of whats on the road over here

My escape's got 105k on her and she has the original clutch...that's my only experience with clutches...I couldn't imagine owning a car with 200k+ miles on it though!

I mean I've owned 2 cars now with over 200k miles but I also wanted to get rid of them!

Yeah I have both cars now the maxima and the jaguar. I keep hte maxima in the garage now lol! Well I bought the 04 jag x-type 3.0 55k for $11500 and now I bought this immaculate 01 maxima 5 speed SE leather, sunroof etc clean carfax no dents or scratches and I bought it for $6000. The trade in for the car is about $8500 and the jaguar trade in is still about $14k. I love driving the maxima alot but now I have to decide. As kids I think they might try and do something to do the jag, pull the leaper, scratch it etc. On the maxima chances are kind of small and I would mind too much compared to the car. This maxima is immaculate. it seriously shines like brand new. Well I just ordered some HID fogs and low beam for the maxima and see how it looks. If I keep the maxima I think I can get about $15,000 for the jag.

Man I'd rather have the jag...if you aren't hated why would anybody do anything to the car? Kid at school had a porsche and nobody liked him but I can't say anybody messed with his car. On occasions he'd drive a bmw...BTW who are you selling drugs to, to afford another car with cash?

Only problem is that it is in the rules, you must be a Jag owner to be part of the forum ( unless you're a mod with special permission )
So if you sell Jase, you gotta go...lol

Yeah aquil its really not about hate but its more about jealously. There are alot of kids that have their license adn dont have a car and because of jealously they will do something to your car. In my school I got about 2500 kids at my school, I dont have hate from anyone so I know most of the kids at my school. But I know kids have 2 faces so one day you will be talking to them and another you see them pulling your leaper out. Well aquil I had $2500 cash when I was about 14 years old from christmas and saving up. My dad said if you spend your money on worthless things im not gonna help you out. So I never spent my money I saved it and bought a 2002 Kia Spectra with 1452 miles. YES 1452 Miles. I bought that car for $3700 and my dad said you know post it on the net and see if you can get anything. So I sold the car for $6k. Then I bought a 02 jetta 1.8T with 37K for $8k and then a 05 scion xa with 41k for $7100. Then the best car I had was a 2004 Infiniti Q45 with 30k. I have never seen a nicer car like this. Bought it for $20k and sold it and then I had to pay my dad back for the money I owed him. Then just from there I am saving up my money(most of it lol).

Some of them just try to neg with me but I try to stay firm with my price and eventually some of them e-mail me back, lol.
