Hi, new to these forums having recently purchased an 05 manual X type estate, so I hope I do things right on here. Arriving home yesterday, my wife said that when I braked (gently) her seat moved. Had a look afterwards and it did not seem to be static in any position. It slid back and forwards, then stuck in the most forward position and come what may will not move at all now. This is a manual seat, and the books say to remove seat, disconnect electrics as air bag in seat, move seat back to get at front seat bolts, then slide forward to remove rear bolts. Any ideas how to check/repair as it won't move anywhere. Seat has heated seat, and lumber/rake adjustment by electrics, + air bag, that's all that's electric. The lever to permit movement seems to be connected to a fine wire, which operates a small catch on the door side runner and I can see movement of that catch , cannot see anything which goes to the centre runner.

 

I just changed my manual seat to power on the passenger side (right side here in the US). I still have the manual base. If you would like any pictures of the mechanism let me know. If anyone wants a manual seat base let me know before I toss it. Pete.

 

Thanks very much for the info, I may well change the seat to electric as you have done. My problem at the moment is, as it won't move in any direction I cannot access the bolts (front) to remove the seat. Thanks anyhow, have a great day. Colin
