Manual Gear box worries

I have a 2002 X Type here in Perth Australia that I shipped from the UK. It has 70,000 miles on it. The manual gear box has started to stick and I am worried that getting/replacing parts will be very expensive. All X Types here are Auto
The previous owner of my old girl replaced the manual box at about 85K, although I don't now why. The 'new' box has covered about 20K and it sticks a little in first when the engine is cold; however, it's OK when the engine is up to normal operating temp.
Might be worthwhile checking the oil level. Mine also downshifts a lot cleaner when I heel and toe it. Which, indecently, is the easiest car I've ever driven to do this in.

I just bought an '04 with a manual and 70k miles, and I'm going to have the trans flushed (along with the coolant system as it can get as low as -25 deg C in the winter here). I'd do that before replacing anything as major. 'Tis far cheaper.
