I noticed that these transmissions have a "shift tower" gear selector that is on top of the transmission. Similar to the Ford Fiesta and Focus, they are notorious for sheering the roll pin in the selector. The pin can be replaced with a high quality m6x1.0 bolt and lock nut.
Anyone have experience with this? Supposedly it helps soften up the gear selection and side to side play with the shifter.

Can't really say I have seen a post where someone complains about or has replaced that because it was an issue. So, if it is there it doesn't sound like it has been much of an issue for anyone on here that I can remember.
That's what I was thinking. I know in the Ford forums, people are replacing with grade 8 bolts and such because the pins are sheering and leaving them with no gear selection or sloppy gear selection.
I drove my manual transmission X-Type for almost 7 years and about 120K miles without an issue and it had over 160K on it when I traded it in. Was bullet proof the whole time. Still had had the original clutch in it as far as I knew and it still shifted great.
I am glad to hear that I hope mine holds as well. I got a bit sloppy selection from my shifter. I already repaired a bushing on the shifter. Maybe something else?
