Default mil reoccuring

03 X type 2.5 136000 miles
BACKGROUND-- plugs. "o" rings, crank case vent hose @ 110000 all because of missing @# 1, jerking & mil codes. rpm limiter. Ran fine till now @136000.

NOW--- severe miss @ idle, smooths out after driving, mil lite stays on (oval)hard fail, engine lite is on. exhaust is normal.
Codes are P0001 (intake air volume reg.control)
P0305-Misfire on 5
P0135-O2 circuit has no activity( bank 1-sensor#1) I assume it's the up stream cat O2 sensor
Can't find any data info. at ALL DATA for P0001 or P0135 they show P0135 and I assume it's similar but not exact.

I don't want to go in blind SO IF ANYBODY HAS HAD THIS AND FIXED IT I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY TIPS AND A HARDY THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. It shouldn't be plugs there Bosch platinums. I run 87 octane fuel and have for 100k with no problem. Just changed oil/filter 5w/30 full syn. I checked compresson and ohmed the coils when I put in plugs and all is OK. THANKS,
BILL

Bill, I would try accessing the #5 cylinder and swapping the coil between cylinders 3 and 5. If the misfire moves over to cylinder 3, then you confirmed that the coil is bad and you need to replace the coil. If the code remains on cylinder 5, then you are looking at either a plug that has failed, a problem with the injector, or the associated wiring. At this point I would say to swap around the injectors to see if the code moves. If not, then you are looking at a bad plug or a wiring issue. You can probably swap the plug at the same time that you do the injector as this will allow you to confirm a bad injector along with eliminating the possibility of a bad plug.

At this point, if you are still getting a misfire on cylinder 5, then you have a wiring issue and taking it to a shop will be the best bet. If the misfire moves over to cylinder 3, then you know you have a bad injector.

As for the P0135 code, that is saying that the heater in the O2 sensor is bad and you either have a bad O2 sensor or the wiring associated with the O2 sensor is bad. Since all of the injectors and coils use the same wiring harness, I know a plug is not undone. So, you can do a hand over hand of the wiring to see if the cable has any cuts or anything in it. If it does, then that is probably your problem for both the misfire and the O2 sensor issue. If you don't find anything, then that is just confirming a trip to an electrical shop will be needed.

Default misfire

THANKS THERMO
I did just that swapped 5 with 6--- 3 with 2--- 1 with 4, checked all vac hoses and conns.. swapped plugs the same way. started it and it ran rough at first then smoothed out. I cleared all the codes but P1000 won't clear. It seems it's a cold start problem. I ran it up the freeway and it was fine even at idle when I got home. My scan tool shows all the systems except MASS air flow. One thing it showed IAT @-40c then I shut it down reset everything again and it read ok 44c which was the ambiant temp at the time.I haven't ran it since but will Mon.. I have nothing to compare the rest of the reading to like STFT/LTFT/or OS voltage or %. I can watch live data but with out a standard its a guess except to see a change like STFT go from _to +. I really didn't replace anything and it ran better so I might have a conn. issue or a MASS AIR FLOW issue.By all measures it shouldn't have ran better. I might have to get out the tester(VOM} I did get some data from ALL-DATA for that. Ill let ya know . By the way there was a quite a bit of oil in the throttle body and duct. compression test was all cyl. @160 and no excess exhaust at start up or operating temp. THANKS FOR LETTING ME BOUNCE OFF YOU. hAVE A GOOD WEEK!!
