I don't know if I get what you're saying. Are you saying the electronic odometer display is randomly adding digits to the total milage on your car????
I am pretty sure that your dealer does'nt know WTF they are talking about so I would suggest calling another one, there has to be more than one in the local area right? But since where talking about being able to scew with the milage on an odometer I am confident in saying I have never seen or heard of a 'tool' that would allow it.

I agree in that I doubt the dealer would be able to change the odometer at will. I would guess that maybe what they did was some sort of reboot that then showed the mileage as what it actually is when restarted. If not, then changing the odometer reading would be highly illegal. Might be something in the actual LCD display itself, but generally those lose certain pixels and not dipslay other numbers. Earlier Saabs and Audis were notorious for failed LCD displays. Could be that when out of the cold and in the dealer it warmed up enough to work normal. Sounds like some electrical component connection or soldered joint contracts just enough in the cold to cause that condition. If that is what it is that would be tough to track down. Weird. Hope you can get it reolved easily without too much more hassle or expense.
