Misfire, cylinders 2 4 6
No oil here, i think thats a good sign.
2002 x-type, 3.0 - This car sat in a back yard in a dry desert-like southern California climate for about 6 years or so. I just spent $1800 at the mechanic shop and had the following done:
new radiator and upper hose
new thermostat
new water pump
injection service
new spark plugs
replaced fuel pump
After repairs they cleared the check engine light, after driving for a few days and it running very smoothly, check engine light came back on and it felt very rough, sputtering during idle, etc. Had a diagnostic put on it and it came back with an evap code (don't recall exactly which one) also has codes p0300, p0302, p0304 and p0306. Random misfire and misfires in cylinders 2, 4 and 6. I took the sparks out today and inspected them...oil and gas smell from the threaded side and down, no oil on the upper ceramic portion. My plan moving forward is to replace all 6 coils and also replace the valve cover gaskets with a complete set. Does this sound like it may solve my issue? Pics attached...

I have the same problem on my 2.5 and have replaced plugs and coils and upper and lower manifold and IMT O rings, also MAF sensor and both O2 sensors on that bank. Have also pressure tested the injectors and still have the fault, its showing random misfires on 2,4,6 and the fuel trims are seriously negative showing that the ECU thinks its too rich ( so not an airleak) and is pulling the fuel delivery right back so its running very lean. The last thing I have to try is the catalyser which I will pull off to inspect then if its defective I will order a new one from Magnaflow as no one supplies Jaguar original ones any more. Still hoping its something less expensive and easier to replace, but heres hoping!

If you look in the engine bay, right behind the ABS unit is the strut tower. On the side of that you should see a bunch of wires come together and get bolted to that spot. Remove that bolt, pull off the wires (try to remember how they were on there), clean up all the terminals (get rid of any corrosion, return them to a nice silvery color) and then bolt them back down. Do not forget to clean the area on the body too. I have seen people have issues with this connection.
If that doesn't fix things, then we can go from there.
