Where can I find a set of the plastic surrounding the gaiter base? Googling only shows the gaiter.

 

Good point, mine is broken too, I will take a look around and see if I can find it here in the UK

 

Find the type of pull-it yourself junk yard, call and ask them if they have the car similar with your car, it's cheap and you get exactly what you want.

 

Do we have that in the UK or in the Isle of Man? I honestly don't know and I would be thrilled if we do.

 

are the brake slider and carrier bolts torqued to yield? if not then we could just loctite them right? Protects them from seizing and corrosion at the same time.

I just read vibration test result paper on screw fasteners and it looks like thread locking compound is the best if heat is not a limiting factor otherwise friction screw threads come second. And mechanical locks come third.

Safety wire anyone?

 

I bought a gear lever and cable on eBay and the surround came with it. I would have made a cf replacement if needed.
