today' morning i had heater ON HIGH, and after 10 minutes later my rear windshiled just exploded, what could be the cause of this, anyone had this before?

my windshield had that horizontal heating line in it or something

 

Must've been the quick temperature change from cold to hot that shattered the glass. Might be covered under your insurance plan?

 

Maikal, like Blaydes said, it was the rapid warming of the rear window. It can also occur if you have some snow on the roof of the car and the window was clear with the rear defroster running. The hotter glass being quickly cooled by a bunch of snow coming down off the roof will also thermally stress the glass.

 

In cold temperatures the defrosters are turned on automatically when the car is started. Gotta make sure to turn them off if there's nothing on the glass. On dry glass the rear defrost is gonna make the windshield even hotter than it normally would since there's nothing to counteract that and cool it. So if something cold were to come in contact, BOOM, glass everywhere. Also why it's recommended that you don't dump hot water to deice your car....perplexes me that people still do that. You would think it's common sense not to.

 

i park my car in garage, so there wan't any snow or anything on the car, and i am pretty sure that defrost wasn't on either, today outside was around 18, and my heater was on high
it exploded after 10 when i left home,

i was parked and car was on,
so turning defrost if u don't need it, will not explode is that right? i just don't want to pay 500 dollar every month

oh yeah i forgot to ask you, what kind of new windshield i should install?
in way as heated one, regular one ant different kind if they exist?

the one that broke had gray horizontal lines on it, don't know what they were for..
