After changing the top and bottom intake gaskets and both valve cover gaskets in December 2024, I have run into a bit of a problem.
As I keep driving, I can smell burning oil through the vents (which wasn't there before I embarked on my DIY mission). I then inspected the valve cover seal and found a spot that was leaking ( because I had put too much ATV at one single spot. Anyway, I managed to get that sorted. No more leaks for there. The burning oil smell didn't stop,
I then removed the intake to check the rest of the hidden areas, but no oil leaks were found. During this process, I noticed oil buildup on the top intake gaskets, which were relatively new. I have cleaned all the gaskets and tightened the intake torqued to 10 Nm / .
The questions that I have,
A. Is this unusual or to be expected? What is going on in the engine to cause this?
B. I still smell burning oil. Can this be leaking from the intake into the exhaust system and burning it off?
C. Do I need a new PCV valve?
D. What else can cause a burning oil smell?
