Default 2005 X-Type Sportwagon 3.0 rear differential bushing

I have an unpleasant clunk when going into Reverse. I have been told that the "rear differential rear mount" is going bad and that the part is no longer available.

I was also told that there is another bushing used in the suspension somewhere that can be adapted for use on the differential, specifically the "radius arm mount with sleeve".

Has anyone else heard that or have info on what parts are available.

I did see this offered from JagBits (Jaguar X-TYPE USED MOUNTING BRACKET FOR X-TYPE REAR DIFFERENTIAL - DIFFBRACKET-USED (jagbits.com) but I'm not sure if that's what I need to get.

Thanks in advance.

Jon

The JagBits link you have is for a dog bone shaped metal bracket that bolts to the frame and to the differential. It is used so will likely come with used bushings. There are 2 bushings in that part where it bolts up to the unibody, Jag part number C2S17304 that are available. I would call that the "rear differential front mount".

There is another mount in the rear center of the diff that bolts to the unibody. This is what I would call the "rear differential rear mount". I can't find that bushing in any parts diagram. No idea about substituting another bushing in there.

On the Jag XJ forum someone suggests the S-Type rear diff rear bushing is the same as other Jags of the 2000s. Part number XR813260. Maybe check they have a good return policy before buying?

Discussion in XJ forum here.

Thanks. I'm not sure what the difference is between a "damper" and an "insulator" might be:

https://parts.jaguarcary.com/oem-par...lator-c2s17304

https://parts.jaguarcary.com/oem-par...amper-c2s23949

Is one on the top and the other to the rear of the differential housing?

Has anyone else had this problem on their X-Type?

Jon

The "damper" is just a slug of steel that hangs off the differential. The size and location cause it to damp out some unwanted vibration. That "insulator" could be what you need. Can the Jag dealer parts department confirm it is the "rear differential rear mount"?

Thank you dh53 for explaining that. The car is in the shop now having this looked at.

As I have the same symptom, is there a resolution to this?

TIA
