Default Need help with HID

I am looking to get some HID bulbs for my 2002 jaguar x type.
I have heard rumors about HID bulbs that fry the wiring of the car
so i just wanted to get some input on the pros and cons about HID.
Is it true that they can fry the wiring?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim, there have been alot of guys do the replacement to HIDs and nobody has had any problems as long as you get a good kit. Long ago...perhaps there were more risk, but these days you have very little to worry about. I think it was the HID 'looking' bulbs (the zenon, color coated ones) that melted peoples wiring. HID is less current and less heat than a halogen, so in theory, it shouldn't happen.

If you search around, you can find examples of which brands people bought (i can recall HID Depot on ebay) that have worked out well. Now go get to your project. [sm=smiley20.gif]

go to ebay and search for a seller named "mydepots" he has good kits at a great price. i would (so would most others on here) suggest the 6k color kit. they look great! (see my photo below) i did my fogs and headlights with those kits. you will also want to get a pair of 194 super white bulbs for the city lights. they match perfect. go to v-leds.com for these.

Try the ebay store "HID Outdoor Equipment" I've bought a couple of HID kits from them for my friend's cars and they have worked perfectly. Great customer service as well!

I just searched but I cannot remember the name...sinomedia sells the same kit and I'm pretty sure they are the same pics that mydepots had in their description...my guess is they change their name every now and then to keep a clean sheet??? Here's the link...and notice it also has an email mydepotscom@gmail.com Wow what a coincidence!
