RE: Need help quick - hood!!
I actually had this problem before. you see the 2 points where the hood catches onto the rest of the car? there should be 2 places on either side near the front where the anchor drops in. Make sure they are well greased. After I applied black grease to those 2 points, it closed with no problem.

At this point I have used all me force on the hood it wont latch shut.
I WD40'd the latches.I pulled and wiggled the lever in thecabin.
Nothing is helping.I was gentle when I first opened it, I hope my
innocent curiousity wont cost me a repair bill. Any kind offurther wisedom
would be much appreciated.

RE: Need help quick - hood!!
I got this car while land rover was fixing the family car. I would like nothing more for them not to notice
as they take it away, but if the secondary latch doesnt hold, I would feel terrible if it lifted up
while driving and someone got hurt. I am upset though, I was very gentle with it and I have no
doubt that the next person to open the hood would have had this occur to them. Im just the one who
got stuck with it cause I was a little curious.
I can try greesing it in the morning. The part that I can see and move with a screw driver seems to move
freely (It's a semicircular hook that rotates as the catch from the hood comes down on it{cupping it downward}.)
for whatever reason it wont hold it there. I am at acomplete loss.

there are two latches to hold it closed, you should be able to poke away at them and see why they dont move. the system is entirely mechanical and nothing special to know about it. Sometimes the cable can freeze or get rusty and the release meachanism does not spring return when you release the lever under the hood.
Really you need to have a helper to work the lever inside the car and then watch how the mechanism works...

not much help but when I read the story of a car wash guy getting stuck in a landy disco with the keys in it... man I don't miss those days with my landy at all. you could actually lock yourself in your land rover and not get out except for the window,"you drive this time Bo"...LOL,Bill

Must be nice that's for sure. I just dropped of the Jag at the shop last week and I was given a Honda Accord as a rental.[:@] I despised the car, so I traded it in for a Grand Prix. Not a huge difference in most peoples eyes, but believe it or not, it's a lot faster and smoother and I'm as pleased as I can possibly be without having my baby.
