Need some major audio help ASAP!
Hey guys!
Well I just bought a JL subwoofer cased and a Kenwood amp from craigslist for 120 dollars total. Not sure if it was a great deal or not. But we will find out once the instal is complete. I have never ever messed with car audio before. The amp is 300 watts and the sub is 10 inches. I know theres is a 30 amp or something power connector in the trunk. I want to make use of this if possible. I have some pictures of the area and it would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction. If making use of the 30 amps in the back is not a good idea, then what are my options? How would i go about connected the amp to the speaker system? I tried taking the head unit out, but it would not budge, only the top would move, the bottum was stuck, i didnt want to put much force. I am willing to do whatever i must to get this instal done ASAP. Also let me know if I got a good deal or not? The pictures are below
I have a feeling that this is the connector: Am i right?

Thanks for the help!!!!!
PS i know theres another thread, but i dont want to hijack it.

Ok guys. I made some progress this morning. I managed to get power from the that connector that i showed u. Its 30 amps apparently. I blew the fuse by accident, and it is a 30 amp fuse. So i managed to get the amp to power on. I ran the two input cables to the headunit and i also ran a speaker cable for the remote. Everything is looking clean in my eyes. But the issue at hand is that I CANNOT get the headunit out. I took out the two trox bolts and yet it doesnt slide out. The upper part tilts out, but the lower area just pivots. It does not budge. Where can i get the remote feed from to the amp turns off and no by itself? I am sure its behind the headunit, but i cannot manage to get it out. Can somone please help me out?
Heres a picture of the boot after i cleaned it up and put the carpet back. Everything looks good, now it just needs to sound good!!!!

So can someone please point me in the right direction in terms of getting an audio signal and adding the remote function so it turns on and off autmatically?
THANKS!!!!!

There are two more trox screws on the bottom of the head unit. Right above the ashtray there is a black plastic strip that can be popped out that reveal two more trox screws. After that you can pull it straight out. Now just to let you know our cars don't come with RCA inputs for your amp/sub so you will have to get an RCA convertor that fits our head unit. Also, if you don't want to splice your factory harness for your radio than you have to buy another adapter for that. Let me know if you can't find the remaking screws I will take a picture n upload it when I get off work
Yea i realized later that there was a TOTAL of FOUR Torx screws. Well the installation is complete. I managed to get it to work with the 30 amps in the trunk. If anyone has any question, just ask me and ill try to help as best i can.

Well this was my first installation ever and it went pretty smooth. I spliced into the rear speakers. I ran an RCA cable and a Remote cable(just a regular speaker cable) to the front. I bought an HI/LO converter AKA a line out converter. I had to ground that, and then i chose to splice the rear right and read left. Chris X's colors that he stated in his blog are correct. For the remote i just attached it to the cigar lighter. It only turns on when the car is on, so therefore a good remote. Just use the 30 amp cable in the back of the car, The cable up top is the right one. The top right is the power, the other two i was not sure what they were for. Be careful, i blew the 30 amp fuse before, so i had to replace it. Luckyly jaguar provides you with replacements in the box. Also i soldered the cables togeather and used some electrical tape. Its a messy job, but its the sound that counts. Plus you cant see any of the mess
hahaha.
hahaha.
Nice job! I have looked for hours for the connector in the trunk, I really don't think there is one in my X. Either way I already ran a line from the battery. How well does that amp run that woofer?
I read somewhere that it was a 3 prong connector, so i saw that and jumped to conclusions. The amp, i am not sure, its my first installation and i am a NOOB at car audio. So it sounds good, but i think i need to get the gain adjuster so i can just control the subwoofer because sometimes the sub is just too loud. I bought the sub and the amp used both for 120. Idk if i was a good deal or not, all i know is that i am satisfied with what i have at the moment. If i decided to go bigger, id have to run a power cable directly to the battery because big amps would require a bigger power supply, and this small amp made the job a bit easier.
How does it sound gupdah? I have installed rockford subs in every car I have owned and from my experience it has always been worth it!
I'd say you got a pretty good price. The amp alone is worth what you paid.

Thanks for the reply man. Idk this was my first install and it was spur of the moment. I called up someone on a Friday, picked up the amp and sub at 10pm at a gas station, and installed it the following moment with no idea. But managed to get by with some help of the forums and what not. Maybe someday I can expand to a larger amp and sub, but if i do, i will need to wire it directly to the battery, right now i am running of the 30 amp wire. It sounds better than before, so thats all that matters
. But i do need to get a gain adjuster knob just to control the sub woofer.

hey, i have been looking for the amp wire in the trunk and couldn't find it. where exactly is it in the trunk? because i cant really tell from your pictures.
Thanks for any help,
I'm new to car audio, so any help is appreciated.

the wire is on the driverside (US) behind the carpet, you will want to take the whole carpet pannel off. It will be clipped to the metal. It has 3 prongs. The rest of the cables have too many or too little. You cant miss it.
Looks great. JL makes some really nice subs. I've wanted a single 10W7 for the longest time. Everyone would always say u need 2 12's or u won't hear ****. But 1 10W7 can blow away many bigger setups. Of course its also really expensive.
Are there alot of rattles from your system. It seems like just the stock speakers are causing some of the door pannels to rattle and tick me off. I have been a little hesitant to throw in some of my old equipment because I think it might just make more work trying to keep the door pannels and dash from rattling like crazy.
I guess you can always just turn the bass up until it drowns out the vibrations. lol.
Thanks!

I have no rattles. The only rattle i hear is from the vent on the dash that wont stay down, but thats if i am driving on a bumpy road. But I fail to hear any rattles. Next time i am in the car ill try to see if i can hear any coming from the speakers.
Well i dont have a cd changer in the trunk. If you look on the Drivers Side (US) there should be a black plug that is clipped to the metal wall. The picture that i provided is the exact one. Then all you have to do is push the wire in the plastic male adapter thats already there with the female. You need to take of the side carpet in order to see it. I can try to get a clearer picture. But the problem is that i am not sure if the CD changer might have another power source.
