Default New to Diesel, new to turbos, new to Jags and looking for re-assurance

HI
The thread says it all really. My first ever Diesel, my first ever car with a turbo, and obviously my first Jag. So you can chuckle if you like, but although I'm happy with the performance (for a 2.0D manual anyway) I wondered if something is amiss. When I accelerate I get decent performance, but if I push it around the 30mph -50mph mark the revs race up but the acceleration doesn't seem to quite follow. It still pulls okay, but should the revs do this ? There's no real umph! if you catch my drift. Bare in mind it's only a 2.0d Manual but is this a fault perhaps, or just the day turbo diesels behave.
Once you've stopped chuckling a polite reply would really be appreciated
Regards
Barry

If the revs are going up without the speed increasing you have clutch slip. You may need a new clutch.

Alan - firstly thanks very much for your reply (and for not taking the micky - lol)
Whats happening is if I am driving at say 50mph and then quickly put my foot on the accelerator the engine and revs race (which you can hear and see by the rev counter) then returns to normal once you have reached the speed you should be going at but a sudden acceleration causes the racing again, usually at the 30-60 mph mark.
As mentioned I can see my revcounter rise but I don't accelerate in line with the revs. I don't hammer my car, or rush quickly at the lights, but did notice when buying it the clutch pedal seems quite high for the biting point.
I have a warranty but don't know if the clutch is covered, I'm hoping it is.
regards
Barry
