New GUY!!! Oil pan question?
Has anyone changed there leaking oil pan? I have a '02 X type 2.5 ltr AWD. My oil pan is leaking and I ve found this is a pretty common problem for the X type. My problem is I couldnt find a DIY write up about it. Looking for some help. From what I could see it looks like the pan is braced to the bell housing and one of the oil pan bolts is hidden behind the AWD transfer case. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Trying to get all the info I can before I go in. My dealership wanted to charge me $325 to change this gasket and I cant justifythe spending.I just change the oil pan and transmission gaskets in my BMW 528i and it took my about 2 hours. $325 is cheap for a dealer!!!
If you are not mechanically inclined, DO NOT attempt it.
If you are serious about doing it yourself, I can guide you through it.
You don't need to remove the transfercase if you have Automatic transmission.
