New struts and springs
02 Xtype premium 2.5l with 185KM on it. Ride quality feels like garbage and its time to change the struts. My mechanic says no one makes aftermarket struts for this car. Is that true? I doubt it but he checked the monroe catalogue infront of me and our car s not listed. Can someone reccomend a good cost effective strut as well should i change the springs too or use the same old ones? If I need to change them can someone reccomend a spring as well? I am in Canada but can easily drive to buffalo to purchase or have installed.

Mr. Xtype, first off, Monroe does make shocks/struts for our car. But, I would recommend spending a few extra dollars and getting the Bilstien shocks. They are a very nice shock and they just happen to also be the ones that are OEM (just painted a different color with a jaguar logo put on the shock).
With this being said, Bilstien offers 3 variations of shocks. You have the "comfort", the "Sport", and the "Heavy Duty" shocks. Based on your car, you will probably want the comfort shocks. But, the other 2 will fit on your car. The difference is the Sport shocks are slightly shorter (to match up to the lowering springs that came with the Sport model) and the heavy duty shocks are going to be slightly stiffer than the comfort shocks and the price is going to reflect that (cost about $200 more for the set of 4).
The best price for the shocks I could find was on eshocks.com. Go there, input your car information and it will give you the full run down on the shocks. From there, you can pick what you want and how much you are willing to spend.

Front comfort struts for 2002. Jaguar part # C2S29541 $101
Rear comfort shocks Jaguar part # C2S2389 $117
From Hampton Automotive. Who also sells on ebay. They have the rears on there for 103 free shipping.
I bought my rear sports from Eshocks. Good company. They are 99.25 fronts and 72.75 rears or 344 for all four with free shipping. Bilstien part number 22-053619 fronts and 4-062275 rear. The Jaugar parts are made by Bilstien.
The front springs are only like 60-70 each.
