Default New Style Grill with Sport Body Kit

I need to make a decision (pretty much now or never) on fitting the new style grill on my X-Type that also has the sport body kit. I've only seen actual photos of the new style grill on cars without the sport body kit, so I have nothing to base my decision on. I've photoshoped an existing photo of my car with the new grill.

I need help deciding. Thoughts????

It's a now or never decision because I never planned on spending any more money on my X-Type. However, I need to refinish the front spoiler and since I'm already doing that, I can paint the new grille if I decide to get it.

Crap, now you got me thinking. I'd do it if the mesh was blacked out. Leave the emblem and the border alone and I think it'd look pretty good.

Looks great either way, really.

My vote is keep it with the original look. Just looks meaner.

I think the original look is cleaner because everything is blacked out. If you do the new style grill it wouldn't flow with the rest of the car unless it, too was painted. I say stay original.

Get the new one, you can always undo four bolts and change it back. Does this grill match this event?

Is it possible to get the new style grill with a chrome surround as opposed to a painted one? I do not have a sport model and prefer the chrome.

By the one, I vote to either keep it stock or get the new grill if you can get it with black mesh. I don't care for the splash of chrome in front.

I love the black and black look, it certainly does look "mean" and was my original intention when I de-chromed the car completely last year (grill & bumper inserts). However, I do have a soft spot for the new style grill because it does break up the front of the car just enough to make it modern looking.

Say I do go with the new style grill, do you think it will contrast with the bottom black mesh insert in the bumper???

I wish I could keep the old grill if I get the new one, but it will probably go on eBay to offset the price of the new

Someone over at Cardomain.com (ManEFresh2089) has the same idea as me, just noticed it. He decided to paint the entire grill black though, not sure if I like it all black, kinda defeats the purpose of getting the new grill in my case at least since it looks no different than what I have now. Otherwise I like it.

I really like what he has done with the painted grill and how it makes the badge stand out.

The new grille surrounds all have to be painted...there is nothing stopping you getting it painted in a chrome coloured paint (same as the bumper moulds but they come pre painted in chrome when you buy the "chrome" ones)

Coming with fresh eyes into the Jaguar scene, I have to say that both the new grille and the new bumpers from the 2008 model are less attractive than the originals. I would keep what you have. Asking the question to a forum like this is a bit pointless though, as most will vote for the thing that makes the car look newer without actually looking at your comparison photos. Those photos are clear to me that you should keep the black on black. At minimum, the new one with blacked-out chrome is less wannabe/niveau-riche looking, but like you said, "a bit pointless."

The bottom line is do you want to bring your car up to date as Jag has done with the latest MY or keep it looking dated?
Seems the majority of people voting in th epoll agree to bring it up to date.
