New tie rods fitted...
Got my new tie rods fitted this morning at Jagtech at Stockton.
Over uneven ground the back had a harsh vibration which had got slowly worse.Changing the rear anti roll bar bushes didnt really help so when my car was servicedother week I was told I needed the rear lower tie rods replacing as the bushes were worn in them.(Thanks for lubing the bolts which came off easily).
While they were getting fitted I had an hour or so,so had a walk around the trading estate.I saw a garage with a Jag outside..a black 2.0D with body coloured door moulds on a 55 plate for only £13995....couldnt believe how cheap this was.
Got car back and drive home was brilliant with the harshness through the rear suspension gone.
They reckon these are common things to go once you get to 50k miles and gradually creep up on you so its not noticeable at first.

PS I am currently negotiating a group remap with a UK (Liverpool) tuning company who reckon they can squeeze an extra 23BHP out of the 3.0 and have an AWD rolling road.If anyone on the forum is UK based and interested let me know and keep July 28 free (day before Chatsworth House meet)..

Jim, I am awaiting my number plates which will also have the scream ghost ghosted behind the main lettering.Heres a pic I asked them to make up to hide my real plates from getting posted on the net by avid Jag forum members:-
for the shows over the next couple of months and have my new camera for pics.I am trying to sort a group rolling road with remap for July 27 then stay overnight and on to Chatsworth House for a Jag meet the next day.
Forthcoming meets:-
1 July...Wallington Hall Northumberland (100-150 Jags)
8 July...the biggie...Harewood House (Harrogate)..4500 Jags and a new planetarium (I have my tickets)
27 July...remap/rolling road
28 July...Chatsworth House
19 August...Dalemain House (Lake Ullswater in the Lake district) should get some great pics there from the Solway Jag club meet and BBQ

Unfortunately the X type does not hold it's value too good. In fact, it has the worst depreciation of any car!
Oh well....I do love my x type, but i think next time I will buy a "used" one. I could have saved almost 20K if i bought a used 2007 with only 10K mikes!!

Yes Jim, thers nothing like the summer Jag events to look forward to every year.Get yourself down to one. What about a remap stay overnight in a cheap Travellodge day at Chatsworth the next day with the other forum and a speedy trip back up the M6 to Glasgow with your chipped engine so you can get home quicker.
PS I bet I can drink more than you at Crewe Travel Lodge...then again you are Scottish which gives you a head startthen again I am a Geordie so maybe I have the head start....mmm[X(]
Looking forward to the extra 23BHP wonder if I should get that performance intake kit http://www.jaguarxp.com/jagxp/Jaguar.../Intakekit.htmto help before the remap so that I can nudge towards the 300 mark like racer.

Lol.....dunno bout the drinkin sesh Buck...........Scots againts Geordies........Jeez it could go on ALL night and well into the next day....
I'd really love to get down to one of the meets.....but, hell, there's just so much goin on at the mo mate.
What about those power gains? Did you say 23bhp? Was that on the 2.5 or the 3.0 and for how much?
I've just had the Audi remapped giving an extra 36bhp for £650 thru Audi dealer to keep warranty intact.

Between you and me the 23 BHP is for the 3.0 and not quite as much for the 2.5 (will have more news tomorrow). The cost is normally £250 but if I can get 4 others to go (hopefully will be swamped with owners wanting more power) it will only be £200 each.
Jim if you cant make it how about the JagDay (with BBQ)atthe Lakes on Aug 19th?£3 entry per car and £10 pp BBQ...Just down the M6 from you.Right on the side of Lake Ullswater..fantastic.

RE: New tie rods fitted...
Sorry Racer - Have to disagree with you. Nothing depreciates worse than a Chrysler. Trick is to factor this in up front when you buy. I did this on a new 03 X 2.5 and made out OK when I traded it for a 06 X 3.0 last May as well. Big problem with the X is with the loaded ones - the options don't bring you back much when you go to sell/trade.

RE: New tie rods fitted...
I must say that our jags depriciate quicker than a chrysler...my jag was worth about 17-19k last September/October when I bought it and right now kbb says I'd be lucky to get 13,600 in good condition! You look up an 02 300m and the list price of them is 32 for the best one. My car stock was 40k+ brand new! Besides the depreciation of the x-type was what drew me to it...the fact that I could get a car with awd and leather for less than 16k was crazy...the fact I could get a fully loaded 3.0 auto sport with moonroof for 14k was astonishing!

RE: New tie rods fitted...
There's pro's n cons on both sides I guess
Got my A6 new fully loaded for £32k............brand new, nuthin like it, with a 3 year warranty to cover every eventuallity
Got the X in excellent condition 4 yrs old 02 for £10k with a years aftermarket warranty...stick a personal plate on and not many are much wiser about how old it is,but, its still a four ( five year old car now and needs the attn that a car that age would need)
Like I said............pro's n cons on both sides of the equation.

If you get a used jag still under warranty you are all set! Plus you don't necessarily have to get one certified from a jag dealer search the internet for some used ones...I'd like to buy one from texascarsdirect.com or something like that...I've been ooogling over all of the cars they have for some pretty good prices...here's a good example of what you can get used...under warranty and all plus you spend 2k on the jag warranty and your covered for the 6 years and 100k miles...
