Hello everyone! I just bought a 2003 x-type 2.5 5-speed and I really love it, but it seems there is a leak in the airflow, I can feel it bleed power as I get on it and sometimes I get the 3000 rpm limp mode indicator. But that is intermittent. I cleaned the MAF and replaced it after that but still have it. Any advise on where to look next? I have done some work on cars but am fairly new to it, however I do want to learn and do it on my own. Thanks for the help!

 

Welcome to the forums. There is a wealth of information on here and a lot of helpful friendly members.

As to your issue, you mention P0174, yet you also mention it it "lean on both sides". I am taking that to mean there is a lean condition on both banks. If that is the case you would also have code P0171. Those generally have to deal with vacuum leaks. The easiest place to start is to look at the IMT o-rings, the PCV hose and the brake booster hose. Do a search on here for the codes or those specific things and you will find tons of information on how to fix. To replace all three of those might cost you less than $100 total and about 15 minutes of your time. If you are still having issues then you can start looking at other things like replacing the intake manifold gaskets, spark plugs, etc.
