Default next brake issue

After replacing the front/rear pads over the weekend all went well.
So today i drove the 200 miles to work and when i got here i noticed a wide line of surface rust on both rear rotors, it looks like the pads are only contacting 50% of the rotor. The brakes work fine (it seems)
Could that be because of the weird angle the wheel are sitting at due to the dead rear control arm bushings?
The old pads showed no unusual wear patterns, nice and even.
i attached pics to show

It looks like you only replaced the pads. The old pads wore with the rotor, so they sat flush to the surface, following all of the ridges, bumps, valleys.... you get the idea. You put new pads on, that have no wear pattern at all, so they are only catching the high surface of the rotor. It may work itself out, but not without it's problems (noise, vibrations...)

This is why I always replace pads and rotors as a set, or at a minimum get the rotors cut.

If this is only happening in the rear consider yourself lucky. I would remove the rotors, and get them cut, and sand the pads down till all of the "wear" is removed.

thanks jaguardoc, i'm aware of the correct method for a good brake job, but having just bought the car i'm keeping costs way down right now.
The reason for the hurry was the rears were down to the wear bar the day i bought it. Never saw that pattern before and i've changed just pads a number of times on mine and friends vehicles...some people don't have the extra cash for a "correct" brake job
When cash flow is better i'll re-do the whole brake job with drilled rotors and a caliper paint job.
Paid cash for the car...don't care for payments...so like i said..cash is tight for a bit, just spent $600 this week on parts alone...(i expected to spend about an extra $1000)
so i'm just stating...not complaining....also i'm getting a kick out of seeing how little i can spend on parts for a jag and rubbing my buddies noses in it :+)
