Default No heat

Hello , I have a 02 xtype and it’s been a pretty good car up to recently I have had several issues but that’s for a different time. I know nothing about cars. The one issue now is that I can start the car turn the heat on and it sounds like something is falling like broken pieces in the front of the car. But no heat comes out it’s just cold air. The heat worked until just a month or two ago. The heated seats work and when I defrost the windows that work but it’s nothing but cold air. Can someone help me please thanks so much.

mabry, what engine are you running in the X-Type? There are a few options for this problem and they are dependent on which engine you are running. Assuming you are running a 2.5L/3.0L engine, I would say that your water pump is starting to go and it is not developing enough pressure to push water through your heater core. The other common possibility is that your heater core has gotten blocked. This is simple to check as you simply get the motor warm and feel both heater core hoses. If they are both warm, that is working.

Now, when you say that something up front is failing, are we talking say in the dash or are we near the front bumper? Trying to get an idea of where you are hearing things. Really, if you are hearing something make noise up near the front bumper when you turn on the defrost, then that really can be but only 1 thing, the A/C compressor. But, that would not kill all the heat in the car.

Another possibility is the stepper motor that cuts outside air on/off or the stepper temperature one has failed. Thus letting cold outside air in contrary to closed loop where heat is not mixed with the outside air?

Default No heat either

I’m having a similar problem. On my 2006 Jaguar Xtype VDP 3.0 liter engine. I can get the heat and ac to blow through all of the vents. ( front defrost, feet, face etc. when I lower the temperature from Hi (89 degrees) and also when I lower the temperature it blows cold. Heat seems hot for less than a minute. Then feels barely luke warm. My mechanic reset the blend doors with his high quality scan tool. Any help is greatly appreciated.
