Default No power on low beam light

Thermo helped me today fixing my broken headlight housing and assembly, with the kind of poorly engineered structure, he was able to place the inner assembly intact.. unfortunately, when we placed everything back together (we had to remove the bumper in this case) there was no power on the low beam lights (both sides) we tested the terminals that connects to the housing and there was no power at all on the wires..

Checked the fuses and relays, everything is good...

Any ideas what to check next? I was happy enough to have the headlights placed intact without having to buy new ones but it would be nice to determine whats causing this absence of power..

the high beam and fog lights are working, FYI.

Hope to hear from your opinions on these...

Thanks

Eddy

For some clarification, we checked fuses F95 and F96 (both low beam fuses) and they were good and there is power coming from both sides of the fuse. Yet, when checking for power at the passenger side headlight (pin 1 to pin 10 on the harness), we were getting now power there. We were getting power to the other pins as appropriate. According to my diagrams, all that is between the two points is a straight piece of wire. But, having both headlights go out at the same time, this makes me think that something else is going on here.

Eddy, humor me here. Pull out the plug on the passenger side and check a voltage for me. With the plug out, I want you to put the black lead of a multimeter on the black wire (pin 10) and the red lead on the green/white wire (pin 5). I think I may have been reading the schematic wrong in the fact that the main beam is actually what we call the high beam and the DIP beam is the low beams. So, when you have the headlight switch in the low beam position, this wire should have power (ie, 12 VDC) and when you click on the high beams, it will loose power (ie, drop to near 0 VDC). If this is the case, then I am placing money that we managed to bugger up the connectors on the back of the headlight bulbs. Remember we were looking at them, seeing all the cracked plastic and what not there. I am wondering.

Granted, the fix would be somewhat easy as you should be able to fix it with a few connectors from Home Depot or getting an H1 bulb plug at the local auto parts store (any plug that fits a H1 bulb should work in this application).

thanks chris, but i dont have my baby with me today, i left it at the mechanic for them to work on the existing issue of "misfire on cold start" but I will call them to let them know I am bringing the repair kit for the headlamps (comes with two separate connectors instead of one). I told them about the low beam issue and they promised to take a look at it for me. The owner of the dealership kinda brushed me the wrong way today by telling me that they dont guarantee "check engine lights".... i gave him the look that no man could ever handle.. we ended up patching up things and he agreed to help fix the issue to the best that he can.

the question is.... when do I become a happy Jag owner??? Im just so glad to have found this forum coz if not I would have lost my sanity since day one!!!

the problem was on the connectors.. I bought a repair kit from the dealership, changed the connectors and viola! lights are back.. although, i still need to save money to buy new headlight units.. i wonder where to get affordable ones?

Eddy, you can look on E-bay and see what they have, but be careful going with them. Have them send you a specific statement about the headlights being intact and are not broken. That way should you get a broken headlight, you have a leg to stand on. Otherwise, you will need to call up a local "auto recycler" (aka, junk yard) and see if they can get you a set of headlight housings. A lot of them can get online and talk with the other yards and see what they have. Can't garantee what sort of price you may get, but I can garantee it will be cheaper than the dealership.

If you need help getting the new headlights installed, you know where I live.
