last night as I was driving my 03 X-Type AWD the speedo & tach started jumping from 0 to the speed I was driving & also the Center Console Immobilizer Alarm Light was flashing the the speedo n tach were jumping back and forth. Now today the car will NOT startor rollover or do anything except unlock and lock the doors. Any help would be appreciated. tks Kirk

 

Kirk, based on the symptoms that you are showing, it is sounding like your ECU/ECM is dead and you are going to need a new one. Granted, could also be in the instrument cluster too. This is probably one of those things that it would be best to take it to a shop to have them diagnose where the problem lies so you are not spending tons more money than you need to. A quick check that you could do is to get your hands on a code reader and see if you can read the codes from the ECU/ECM. If you can do that, the codes may point in the direction of the problem and may also prove that the ECM is good. If the code reader will not sync up, then odds are your ECM is dead.
