No Vacuum at EGR valve
2006 x-type 2.0D 143,000 miles
since i had a new DMF fitted i keep getting a MIL light, the garage who did it filled me with no confidence at all, and i really don't want them anywhere near my car again. they had it a fortnight and finally got it back the day before i went to the states and they told me it was because it had an egr blanking plate fitted. didnt have the fault until they changed the DMF
anyway, Im getting error code p0405 low flow at egr, so ive stripped the valve out today and cleaned it out, it was gunked up. and manually forced the valve open. its stiff, but they are. Having had an issue since collection i checked the vac system over and found they had connected the vac line to the egr to the leak off pipe from the battery..... reconnected that to the manifold thinking hallelujah but still stuck with a MIL light and 405 code, Ive taken the vac pipe off to the egr and have no pressure there at all, so the valve will not be opening.
any ideas what i've missed??

Egr vacuum solenoid switch<br/>
The pipe that was missing was the middle one, after reconnection i really hoped it would generate some vac at the EGR. im wondering if the pipes are the right way round? does anyone know. the workshop manual shows the valve but not the order of the pipes
Problem has been resolved. As they got the pipe work wrong I went with the theory they also got the electric conns wrong and yup, the plug to the vac solenoid although it looked connected in pic above was not fully home. Clicked back into place and fault resolved
