jaguar x type 2lt diesel sport. 03 plate

Hi, can anyone give me sum info on changing the air con fan on the engine. The car sounds like a tractor when u start it up then if u turn the auto air con off the noise stops so pretty sure that is whats causing the problem. Is it a big/tricky job and also expensive?? thanx

 

tootles, sounds like you have a blade that has cracked/lost a chunk. This is causing it to be imbalanced. You will need a new fan assembly. Just be aware that there are slight changes between the pre-04 and 04+ fans with the plugs. You can adapt them, but it requires getting the fan controller (hard to find unless you get new) and then you will need the conversion cord.

Replacing the fans is not difficult, just keep in mind that the fans need to drop out the bottom of the car. So, you will need to get the front end of the car up in the air. After that, pretty straight forward.
