Overhead console help w/homelink
Hello, I was wondering if anyone with a 05 or newer model who is going to be changing a bulb on their overhead console could take pictures of their 20-way white connector and the wires coming from it . I have a newer console for my car and just need to match up my wires to the correct pins.
Thanks !!
Thanks !!
Spike, would a diagram of the plug be helpful as it does state this color wire goes into this pin spot? I have the overhead torn apart on my 03, so, I could get you a picture of that should you need it too.
Chris that would be great although I need one from a later model w/homelink. Yours may still help
Problem is a have a console from a later model that I need to match up to my earlier .I looked at the diagrams and it's very possible. Just need to figure out what colors go to what pins.

Thanks Chris. I'll send you my e-mail via PM. Basically I have the diagrams too, but I need to know what cable I need to match up to what pin, or rather which pin is 1,2,3 etc
Spike, look on the plugs (normally inside the plug next to where the pin sits), you should see a small number moulded into the plastic. Normally they will only label the outside pins. So, in the case of a 20 pin connector, all you will see is a 1, 10, 11, and 20 on the edges of the pins. But, I think you can figure out where pin 5 is at that point. Also, if you do some looking inside the files I sent you, it will also have a section in the front that shows some of the major plugs and their numbering sequence along with the wires that get attached. You may find the plug that you are after that way too.
Chris thanks for the reply.
Let me tell you what I am doing so that it's a little clearer. I am going from a base console with no printed circuit board (no homelink, only lights and sunroof control) to one from a later model with printed circuit board and homelink. I have already spoken to a couple of members who have done it, and indeed all the wires are there, but I don't have the connector. I already know what wires go to what pins (orange to pin 1, black to pin 2 etc), problem is I don't know **where** pin 1 is. I don't know in what corner 1 starts. I hope that makes sense.

For anyone wondering, you can fit a homelink console with garage opener from a later car to an earlier car with no homelink with no problem. Just make sure you get the connector, other wise you will have to do what I did and solde a pin connector to each wire and then connect that to the necessary pins on the new console.
I installed a Homelink system in my 2004 Xtype. It was relatively straight forward and I can supply the pin out for anyone that needs it. Two critical things to do this.
(1) Make sure you get the 20pin white connector (RC23) from the original car that had the Homelink in it. Cars without the PCB have (4) connector cables in the console: 1) RC30 a (4) pin connector that runs the Map lights, 2) RC31 a (2) Pin connector for the Mic, 3) RC33 a (4) pin connector for the Ultrasonic Security system and 4) RC34 a (6) pin connector for the moon roof
(2) Make sure to connect both Ground wires together from RC30 & 34 to the GND (Pin 1) on RC23.
It does work as the HomeLink PCB is completely internal and just needs power from the 20 connector. The remaining wires restore the other functions of the overhead console.
