Overheated and now nothing! Help! Please
Had an issue with the cat's reservoir leaking so I replaced it and wife drove for 40 miles on a trip and absolutely no problem. Next day wife drives on a trip 20-25 miles away and she is overheating and fan running when she turned off. Car sat for about 30 minutes and wife drive back to the house and no apparent problem.
I go out just to check it and the cat does NOTHING! No lights will not turn on and of course will not start?? Check reservoir and everything appears fine there.
What the heck could this be battery burned up? Or what? Battery appears fine but have not checked power.
Gonna let her sit for a while but plan to work on her later. Any ideas or suggestions?
Some kind of kill switch maybe?
Thanks

geewillicurs, I would start with doing a voltage check of the battery. It may be that the heat from the motor hurt the battery and it was enough that on the way home, a plate failed and resulted in a dead battery.
You mention nothing comes on, so, I am assuming you are also referring to the interior lights. If this is the case, then I say first look at the battery. After that, do a quick look at the battery cables and verify that they are still good. After that, we would need to put a multimeter to the car. So, how are you with a multimeter?

If you replaced the coolant tank perhaps you left a large air bubble in the system that needed to get burped out. That may take a few cycles. I remember reading a procedure in this forum to help that along. It was not complicated. Other possibility for the transient overheat is an intermittently sticky thermostat. Once you get the electrical back up you'll just need to be observant and watch the engine temp and see if that pops back up again.
