I was able to further secure it. Not sure if it was tighter originally, but it’s pretty close now

Sealed up the hole with aluminum tape, replaced everything and detailed the car. Went on a 120 mile uninterrupted drive on the highway and no odors, no lights and no problems. hopefully this means everything went well, will remain so, and my car is ready for my 300 mile trip. Thanks everyone for your input and help. This ended up costing 40 dollars for thE brand new OEM internal Motorcraft pump + 10 for a small triangular metal file to score and notch the brass pipe of said new pump + 20 for generic lock ring remover + about 15 for the aluminum tape. Plus whatever the cost of the new o ring gasket was.

Thanks again

I think if using just the pump only, a double (does single and double) flare tool would be helpful for the different fuel hook up on the replacement pump. Not awfully costly, usually a bit over $20 USD.

Advance has a basic one for like 5 bucks

The new 40 dollar OEM Motorcraft internal pump went on the 6 hour 300 mile trip (each way) with no problem at all. My biggest fear was that the rubber fuel hose was going to slip from the brass pipe of the new pump since the original pump has a nipple on said brass pipe, but scoring it and making a notch worked perfectly. Thanks all for your help
