Paint Chips to Lower Front Valence

Paint Chips to Lower Front Valence
When I first bought my '05 X-Type 8 months ago, I had the front valence replaced because of some damage/cracks to it and lots of paint chips; I thought it was a one-time thing. (The carhas the sport package andits suspension is somewhat lowered, so the previous owner probably wasn't too careful and cracked it on something)
Well I've noticed that the part is really susceptible to paint chips. I get tired of having to get down there and apply touch-up paint to it every few weeks. I make it a point to avoid potholes and I drive very carefully over speedbumps and through entrances, but I still get lots of chips.
Is there any remedy or protective measure I can take? A special paint perhaps? I've heard that there are some places that can put a transluscent/transparent-type of film over the fronts of cars to protect from damage... has anyone done this before?
Thanks,
Happy
