Default Paint Colour popularity

Does anyone have any idea what the most frequent paint colours used on the X Types were?

e.g. Ive seen many silver X's - Is this the most common colour?

Ive recently looked at an 04 Emerald Metalic X Type. Never seen one before and was wondering if there were any records of how many cars were painted in what colours? The Emerald Metalic looks green from some angles / light, more blue than green in other light and almost black at low light. I quite liked it.

Silly question I know, just seeing what the rare colours are.

I don't know across the whole range, but I do recall reading somewhere that only 3% to 5% of cars were ordered in Jaguar Racing Green metallic (like my 2005). JRG replaced the Emerald Green color used on the 2003 and 2004 X-Types. I'd guess that Emerald Green's popularity is in the same sub-5% range.

I'm biased, but I have to say that Jaguar Racing Green is absolutely stunning in the sunlight on the X-Type. It's a richer green than Emerald, and offsets the chrome accents beautifully. I get stares and compliments on my car on a regular basis.

^My old project car was painted Jaguar Racing Green for that very reason. Its even better than BRG.

(Mine is a little darker because we used HOK Purple Frost flake to make it pop a little more)

Vehicle colour is such a personal thing. I don't like any of the modern Jaguars in any of the dark green colours they have done recently, but, back in the '60s British Racing Green was the only colour to have. My first Jag was a 1960 BRG Mkll and it was beautiful.
These days I love pale metallic blues.

HMMM... partial to Anthracite Pearl, myself. It is a good color to work with if you want to mod your car out. I love mine with my grayed and blacked treatment. The color is just awesome when it's washed and waxed, and it helps that it compliments the mods that i've done, instead of the mods complimenting the car. That being said, I think the light metalic blue is gorgeous, and if I had seen mine and the light blue next to eachother in a parking lot....... wow, I just don't know which I would choose. NOW, what would have been REALLY easy to choose from, if it were available? a nice subtle pearl white Sport! White with the black leather and dark wood interior would have been magical! No chrome, add some black highlights, and some tint!?!?! WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?! Good god!!! ORRRR, paint the mesh white and get chrome wheels and the insides painted white. I still like the black windows and interior. I feel like a project coming along

Gimme white, gimme green, gimme gray, gimme black, gimme ANYTHING but silver! I'm sick to death of silver!

Whew! There ... I feel better now.

I feel like silver might be the most common of all the colors

Silver is common. But, that's why we get to call ours "platinum". It is by far my favorite. I passed on a few black (oops, i mean Ebony) and blue (oops, i mean Zircon) X-Types while I patiently waited for my platinum Sport.

But, I digress. What was the original question?
Does anyone have any idea what the most frequent paint colours used on the X Types were? Kind of... what production numbers were there in each of the available colors?

I would have liked to have had Jaguar Racing Green but buying a used car doesn't always lend to getting a color of your choice. My X is topaz metallic. It is a gold looking color but when cleaned up really nicely and in the sun it looks stunning. It also seems to take on a different color as the sunlight goes down.

Default Got (Well...Getting) One!

My deal that didn't pan out in 2008 was for a new 2007 X-Type in Emerald Fire. Now, I've purchased a CPO 2007 X-Type in Jaguar Racing Green. I was going to settle for the dark blue, but I just love the JRG w/ Champagne interior.

Here's a photo from the dealer's listing.

Ain't she a beaut???

Hopefully, it will be arriving in a week or two. It's going to be shipped to me.

Having said that, the car had better be just as if not better than the picture when she arrives home.

Thanks for that! I thought the whole thread was turning green!

I had an interesting observation this morning on the commute. I live in northwestern Cali, mountains, windy roads, etc. My commute consists of 140 mi. round trip 5 days a week. Since it's a very rural area (no cell phone service for ~100 of those daily miles) and the nearest Jag dealer is 250mi away, I have never seen another X-type on this road. This morning I passed TWO X-types heading in the opposite direction and both were the same metallic red! They weren't traveling together......about thirty miles apart. This is in an area where, as far as I know, I have the only X-type in the entire county!

Well, maybe not that interesting to everybody, but man I was shocked! Meh, the color sucked..........Adriatic Blue FTW!!

Zircon Blue is okay, but from the blues, I like the Indigo Blue. I kinda developed a dislike for Red after being pulled over, again, for speeding in a red car. Mind you, I was keeping speed with a black SUV at the time. Gotta wonder. I now avoid red vehicles to own.
