Default paint work price?

i messed up my rear bumper yesterday. right side.
yea my sensors didnt really give me enough time to notice i was getting close to a short wall right infront of my shipmate's house *im in the navy*

so the thing is, before i bought the car, there was already a huge dent on the left side of the bumper lol
so i knew i was gonna get it fixed.. and now that this happened, it kinda made me think to just repaint the whole car.. so what'chall think?...

my cat's color is the Jaguar Agean/Adriatic Blue Metallic... look it up. its pretty sick color..

if somebody out there ever had their rear bumper (only) repainted, how much did it cost you?
and how much is an average overall paint for a car?...
i had a civic and it cost me about $1600.... but that was in GUAM. =)
now im bak in america

I just has some KEY damage repaired to MY HUMMER and the whole left side was repainted..bill came to for the insurance company $1685..So I would guess that at a quality body shop that does JAGS, you're looking at maybe $500.00 for a repaint of the bumper if the dents and damage is fixable..add another $500 if they replace the bumper.

Actually I'm thinking it will be around $1500 to repaint the bumper for some reason...
lol...

I hit a 2004 lexus gs300 while reversing in a van at about 2mph and it left a little paint crack/scratch on the lex...
guy takes it to his insurance's qualified body shop and tells me its goint to cost around 1700..
AND that was just a tiny tiny little event.

maybe he was just trying to screw me and get more money...
who knows...

ended up not even going to my insurance =]
lol.

but the moral of the story is...
paint can be surprisingly expensive!

If you take the time to remove it yourself and sand it down, for primer and paint, I can't see it costing more than $500-$600. I had the entire OE body kit painted for $750 (including trunk lid and front grill surround). Taking it off is cake, takes 30 mins, and sanding, will, it's not rocket science.

rosemont83, I'm not so sure if it's the paint that's "surprisingly expensive" as much as the bodywork to fix the repair (imo).

When I first got my X, I had some cracks in the lower-front valence (sport bodykit). I took it to a MAACO to get a quote and they quoted me about $550 to repair the crack and re-paint (Ebony Black).

I agree with spielnicht; I think it'll cost you somewhere around $500-600 for the rear bumper.

What is the year of your x-type and what’s your zip code. I can check for a used one for you, you might get lucky and get a color match; either way I think you should replace the bumper cover.

You don't need to repaint the car; you can go to a body shop or automotive paint supplier that can scan your current paint color electronically. They can then produce a small can of paint for your bumper that will be and exact match to the reset of your car.

Here ya are, Deo_and...

May of 2007, a lady hit me in the rear, and put a hole in my RR corner. Also have rear parking assist, but none were damaged, only 'skewed' one sensor in the fitting.

The body shop recommended by Jaguar did a repair and repaint (looks like the entire bumper) for the following

$92 for paint
$277 for bumper remove/re-assemble
$133 for paint labor
________________

$512 w/ tax

Hope that helps!

Thanks..I rest my case..

Things are more than likely way over priced in California..so it may cost like a $1000 or more just paint a bumper out there.

DEO, too bad I wasn't still living in Bremerton, WA (navy too). I would have you come over and we would paint the bumper inside of my old garage. But, now I am out in Norfolk, VA. So, a little bit of a drive to do something like that. Granted, I will be visiting Bremerton in a week to watch my son be the head of ceremony as he marries off two of his friends.

A price of $500 for a repaint on the bumper is not unreasonable. What may get you is the price of the paint itself. Metallic colors tend to run a bit more than standard colors. Also, because your car was painted with a single stage paint (ie, clear mixed in with the paint at time of application), that will help to keep the cost down. You go with a two stage paint (ie, clear applied separately from the color) and while it will cost more, the appearance is much better. So, if you plan on getting the whole car painted, go with a two stage paint and you will be glad you did. If done right, the depth of the color will be amazing.

There are some well known paint shops over in the Seattle area. But, if you are just looking at the bumper, any local shop should be able to take care of that for you. If you want a really good paint job, check out Killer Klown's paint shop (I think that is the name of the shop). They do a lot of the high end paint jobs. Sure a paint job is going to cost you say $5000, but it will be worth every penny. They do paint jobs that run upwards of $50,000. They have been in more car mags than you can think of.

Sorry, I could not find an exact match.

Check with these guys - Everyone else wants $800+ What are they smoking on the west coast?
2004 Rear Bumper Jaguar X Type (works for 2002)
Stock: P81010 Gundies Auto Recycling USA-WA (Seattle-Portland) 1-800-444-4344
Also: B & R Auto Wrecking, Springfield USA-OR (Springfield) 1-800-234-0098

It should be possible to get a good deal on the cover, but it will have to be sprayed. You only need the basic cover as you can move everything else (trim, black sensor piece etc.) to the new cover.

Check if this claim will affect you “no claim bonus” or what your renewal cost be affected in future years based on this claim.
Having a wife and two daughters on the road this is a major concern of mine!

DEO, I hear you on the E4 bit. That was a long time ago for me. But, I remember those times fondly. Keep your head up, it does get better. Sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Should you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask. Brothers in arms.
