painting calipers
dunno if this really qualifies as a faq, but it does contain some very useful info about painting calipers
step 1 - buying a kit. i highly suggest you use http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...emType=PRODUCTas it is a complete kit, including a full bottle of brake parts cleaner, 2 part epoxy paint and the applicator brush (among other things).this kitcomes with enough paint for 2 full sets, or 8, calipers. i put 2 good coats on each caliper and still had about half left over when i was done.

step 2 - jack up the car and remove all 4 wheels. best to have all 4 off at once so that you can paint all the calipers at one time and not have to pause between.

step 3 - cleaning. the above kit comes with brake parts cleaner, but you can pick it up at any local auto parts store, or even walmart or similar places. i kinda cheated and found a brand new set of calipers and pads cheaply, so there was nothing more than a little surface dust to clean on my calipers. this step may take you some time depending on how dirty your calipers are. also, as you clean each caliper put down some tape to cover the rotor/disc and anything else you do not want paint on. (take note of the new EBC slotted rotors!)

step 4 - paint. pretty self explanitory. another reason for using the above kit is that is is a 2 part epoxy paint. the portions come pre-measured, so all you have to do is combine, stir, wait 5 mins and then paint it on. it dries to a high gloss and adds a protective layer to the calipers to help prevent rust and road grime. it is necessary to use 2 coats on the calipers, as it is normal with this type of paint for little bubbles to show up 5-15 mins after it has been painted (the 2 part epoxy is still activiating and having a small chemical reaction). the second coat covers these now small exposed areas and enhances the gloss coating of the paint. once painted cleaning is easy as you just hose off or lightly use a wet rag to clean them back to new.

so now i am on my 2nd set, 3rd color of calipers and hopefully all is done now. i will be ordering another sticker kit for these as well, like my last set.
here is a pic of a normal, stock setup that i found online

this is the last setup i had, cheap silver paint (that faded on 2 of the calipers after only 1 year) with a red decal. still looks 10x better than the stock gold color

once the calipers fully harden (takes about 24 hours) i will post some pics of the newly pained new calipers.

I was talking about the rims you bunch of pervs. I meant to say super sexy! Nineball has a picture in his signature, thus the term sig pic. His sig pic doesn't show red calipers, instead it shows silver ones. Time to update his sig pic so that his X-mas spirit car will show instead or the one without the red calipers.
