Default Parking aid serial data link

I just finished moving the parking aid from my 2003 to my 2005.
After making up some wires and taping into the wiring harness
in a few places I have it working.

I have not (yet) connected the serial data link. The serial data link
is not available at the rear of the car if I read the schematics correctly.
Is it necessary? The system seems to work properly with my
current connections. I do not have a trailer hitch so the disable
feature does not matter to me.

Also the parking aid module is different between 2003 and 2005.
The two mounting studs in the wheel well are vertical and spaced
closer than in the 2003. Apparently the 2005 unit is smaller.
Are they otherwise compatible? Would the serial link data from
the 2003 unit work with the computer in the 2005 car?

Thanks,
Pete.

The main difference between 2003 and 2005 is the addition to the module of Front Park Assist (Fitting of sensors optional). The original module had a single 26 way plug, whereas the later versions have three plugs - one, 16 way and two 12 way, but you've already worked round that.

Wrt the SCP Network connection, both (All) versions are intended to be connected, but exactly why or if it's essential, I don't know. It's always been a White wire. It should have been there in 2003 and still be there in 2005! In 2003, Pin No 5 and in 2005, Pin No 12 on the 16 way White plug. Hope that helps.
