Default Outta luck

As a fellow Mustang and X Type owner, I feel ya. Other than a few generic parts or some diy projects, we're pretty much out of luck on engine upgrades. Coming from a Mustang background it's pretty hard to swallow, but...they still make a lot of parts for Mustangs.

www.minagallery.com has most of what you are looking for. The cold intake may or may not throw CELs and codes. The exhaust is really only the back boxes and tips. If you want a real different sound, you can always look at doing custom exhaust. If you are looking to beef up the horsepower, most of us will chime in with the same thing...the transfer case will not take the stress.

I've been contemplating the idea of a custom 2.5" or 3" exhaust, straight piping from the cat back with a resonator. I'm don't really want to be the guinea pig on this though, has anyone else done a similar exhaust set-up on their X?

Hey there....check out Mina gallery, nameless performance who is a member / vendor here on site.
Exexpat - check out his profile amongst others for lowered cars with meaner sounding exhaust notes and EBC slotted / grooved rotors with EBC Redstuff pads or similar
Upper n lower mesh grille inserts or the newer 09 grille, maybe adda bootlid psoiler if it doesn't have one and a few other bits n pieces.....loads of members to help with ideas

Smile What I have done to my X-Type

I see some mention doing brakes and other performance upgrades. I have a 2004 Jaguar X Type 3.0. It currently has 94120 Miles on it. Also it is in the shop with transfer issues. I should be getting her back by the end of this week. As of right now I have installed Brembo rotors and pads all the way around. I will soon need new rear calipers as hand brake efficiency is close to nill and the rear caliper handbrake lever is seizing up presenting play in the handle itself. I just purchased the required materials to install a new intake and cone filter. 2 weeks ago I had the resonator removed and am planning on replacing the mufflers here soon after the intake is complete. I have done all of the work my self with the exception of the exhaust work. And of course the transfer case.

What has been done:
HIDs: Kensun
55w 6K High Beam
35W 8K Low Beam
55W 12K Fog Lights

Sound System
Head Unit:
Pioneer Fh-x 820bs (Double din w/ Bluetooth)
Speakers (Front & Rear):
Pioneer TSD1602R (2 Way 6.5" Speakers)
Amp:
Alpine mrv250
Subs:
2 12" JL Audio 12W4

Brakes
Front:
Pads:
Brembo P24060N
Rotors:
Brembo 09.8665.11
Rear:
Pads:
Brembo P24063N
Rotors:
Bremebo 08.9734.11

Headliner Replaced

New Door Panel Pins/Clips:
Ebay (here)

What I'm Planning on doing/having done:
Mufflers
Window Tinting
Aftermarket Facelift Mesh Grill

H&R Sport Lowering Springs (1.3" Rear & 1.4" Front)
18" Rims
OR
Rims: Niche Form M157 19X8.5

P.S. For the HIDs get 55w for all. Having them installed i now wish I had had gotten the higher wattage. Also, dont worry about the heat melting the housing w/ the 55w. I have been running these lights for a year w/ no issues.

Jcwike, just a note on the 55W HID bulbs. Please note that the 55W HIDs are not DOT rated. Therefore, having them installed is technically illegal in all 50 states. Only the 35W bulbs are DOT rated. I know there are people running around with the 55W bulbs installed, but that doesn't make it right. It is a lumen output issue. Yes, it may help you see, but you are also blinding those coming at you too with the 55W bulbs.

If you are looking to upgrade the calipers, take a look into the ST225 calipers. That will give you a multiple piston setup that should be a direct bolt on upgrade.

Besides cosmetic, the only upgrade I think of is removing the resonators for a lil more rumble.
You could blank the fog lights in the front, and the lower grill for more aero?

If you want better "aero" up front a lip would do MUCH more than taking the fogs out, and blocking the lower grill will probably cause overheating problems. I am selling a mina gallery front lip, check it out in the classified area.

on my 2.5 I have gutted the cats with o2 spacers and a k&n drop in filter... My gas mileage is amazing since I have done all that, and I can tell I get better performance when needed as well... Of course I have no codes

The best performance upgrade is a steep downhill road. Instant performance boost.
